Maersk is leading the search for alternative fuels in shipping, with a methanol deal.

Transportation, considered the largest "pollution contributor" in the global decarbonisation drive, is under intense pressures to go green with cleaner alternative energy options.

The race in the challenge to switch to cost effective alternative fuels would drive the development of green technologies, with the industry heavy weights leading the race.

However, the crystal ball is somewhat clouded with uncertainties on many fronts facing different hurdles.

Chinese Tone and Syllable Number Collocation: Difficulties in Everyday Speaking

I would like to share with you one of the major difficulties in spoken Chinese: tone and syllable quantity matching. Many beginners think that Chinese tones are difficult to master, but in fact, besides tones, there are two more challenging aspects to pay attention to.

The first is intonation. Unlike tones, intonation is the most difficult part. For example, an ordinary Henan aunt, even if the tones of her Mandarin are not standardized, we will not doubt whether her native language is Chinese or not, because her tones are natural. In contrast, when a voice assistant reads Chinese aloud, every word is pronounced accurately, but it looks very hard, this is because the intonation is awkward. What's more, intonation (including accents and pauses) affects semantic expression. For example, in the sentence "They have all come back", the accent is on…

Learning Chinese does have some difficulties for non-native speakers, here are some solutions:

1. Focus on pronunciation training: Chinese tones and pronunciation are a challenge for non-native speakers. It is recommended that learners listen and imitate as much as possible to correct pronunciation errors. You can improve the accuracy of pronunciation by attending language classes and practicing speaking with native speakers.

2. Break down learning: Break down the process of learning Chinese into vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, etc., and learn in a targeted way. You can use teaching materials, courses, apps and other aids to enhance your learning.

The Key to Chinese Writing: Recording and Transmitting Perceptions

Hello everyone! Today I'd like to share with you one of the key issues in Chinese writing, which is the lack of adequate perception. In fact, writing involves only two things: recording perception and transferring perception. This is the conclusion I drew from Mr. Li Xiaolai's sharing on writing, which I found very inspiring.

Many people do not really convey their perceptions through words when they write, but simply express their opinions. However, the true purpose of writing is to communicate and interact with the reader. We want our readers to feel our thoughts, emotions, and observations, and to be able to empathize with or be inspired by them. Therefore, we need to improve our perceptual skills in order to better achieve this goal.
